Doja Cat’s New Dupe Music Leaves Fans With More Questions Than Answers
Doja Cat has set the record straight with her new music… by contradicting everything she says.
Earlier this month, rap star Doja Cat revealed that her next album will be inspired by 90s German rave.
“I can’t really say much. I just know there’s a lot going on,” the “Kiss Me More” singer said when asked about the new music in a recent interview. “I’m very much into this German 90s rave vibe at the moment and it’s really fun… It’s kind of a clue for the album,” she added.
However, in a flurry of tweets on Tuesday, September 20, the rapper insisted she was joking. “I’m not making a German rave culture album guys,” she tweeted. “I was pranking the outlet who interviewed me about it.”
A stream of tweets followed as the rapper continued to tease fans about the sounds of the upcoming album. “I’m doing an R&B album,” she wrote in a tweet. “Straight R&B no rapping at all,” read a post that followed.
“Y’all, I was lying,” she later tweeted. “I’m making an experimental jazz album. I thought it would be funny to trick you into thinking I was doing r&b because I knew it would work but I’m doing experimental jazz now, the honest truth.
After that she changed her story again, writing the album would, in fact, be all R&B. She wrote in another tweet: “There is no A-side or B-side. The album will have 8 sides and come in the shape of a cube.”
She ended the tweeting frenzy with a final post a few hours later. She posted a voice memo on the social media platform, captioned “the truth”. “I’m serious now, guys,” she began.
“I’m releasing a rock album,” she said evenly in the clip. “There are going to be emo jams. The name of the album is called Rock Out: Volume 1…The Abyss…5,000. So stay tuned for that. … I’m entering a rock phase and I hope everyone will enjoy it.
