Noah Cyrus and Ben Gibbard remember that “every beginning ends”

As the release date for her debut studio album approaches, Noah Cyrus has released another single that showcases the singer’s recent exploration of self and sound.

“Every Beginning Ends,” out August 26 at midnight, is an emotionally charged duet with rock/pop veteran Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie. Their duet enters the heartbreaking territory of country ballads and the duo play against each other like two old friends.

“It was such a surreal experience,” Cyrus said of the collaboration in a statement. “I’ve always been a huge fan, so it was quite intimidating to walk into the room with him, but once we got down to business it all came very naturally.”

She continues, “We talked about past relationships, failed relationships, relationships from our parents, and relationships that have lasted forever. He told me his dad had a saying, “You gotta wake up and choose to love someone everyday,” and it sparked this conversational song about the twilight of a relationship and the reluctance to admit that something took its course. I identify with this in many ways, not only with myself, but also with my parents’ relationship. Writing about it made me understand better.

‘Every Beginning Ends’ follows the songs ‘I Burned LA Down’, ‘Mr. Percocet’ and ‘Ready to Go’, all of which are tracks from Cyrus’ album The hardest part. The album, which will be released on September 16, is a 10-track expose of the feelings and honed discoveries Cyrus has found over the past few years. In a frank conversation with the American songwriter, the singer-songwriter said that The hardest part “checked in [her] life somehow.

“I mean, obviously, I haven’t released an album yet, it’s just EPs, and that’s something that’s been exciting to me since the beginning of my career,” she continued, “and I think something that my fans have been looking forward to as well. I’m just really excited to be able to share the music with them and the experiences with them.
