PVRIS at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, California
PVRIS presented its penultimate show of its US summer tour at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
The show that was originally scheduled to take place at the Regency Ballroom, but was moved to the Great American Music Hall just days before the show, but luckily everything went well as the hall was packed. Support and openness for PVRIS on the tour was Royal and the Serpent which was actually her first tour and she couldn’t have asked for a better band to do the opening act.
PVRIS kicked off their set with a bang by performing their new single “Monster” which they released on July 30, just a week before the start of their tour. The crowd was packed with die-hard fans who already knew all the lyrics to the song because they were singing all the time. After that they played another recent single from their “Dead Weight” from their most recent album. Use me which was released in August 2020 and got us through quarantine. They even played a song from their 2014 debut album. White noise, “St. Patrick” as a treat for the fans who have been there from the start.
Between songs, singer and songwriter Lynn Gunn explained that she still couldn’t believe they were on tour and they were at the end as well. She apologized if she rambled on during every conversation part of their set because it had been too long and still wasn’t used to being on stage again after so long. Before their song “Stay Gold”, she explained how California, and San Francisco in particular, was an important place for them, because after signing their recording contract, it was one of the first cities where they were surrendering. Sacramento, where they played two days earlier, was the first city they played live in.
For the last song of the evening, they performed “Death of Me”, the main single from their 2019 EP, Hallucinations. But the night was not over. They weren’t over yet. As a reminder, they performed three songs “My Way”, “You and I” and “Hallucinations” which was the perfect way to end an already excellent evening.
As the month-long tour is sadly over, there is no news that they will be back on the road anytime soon. Fortunately, with their new single we can look forward to another album on the way and with a new album usually comes a new tour, so definitely be on the lookout for those two things in the months to come.
